I hope you all are well and alive :) (obviously... *shifty eyes*). Well, it's been a while since I last blogged and not much has really happened in that time EXCEPT... I WENT TO LONDON TO not buy a HEAT magazine O:) (in no means is this endorsing HEAT magazine)
We all had to meet at the station for 8.15 in.the.morning on the 23rd of November and it was well too early for my liking... And with the train being delayed we didn't reach Euston Station til about half 11. The journey there was pretty fun and lively :P We went to the hotel to drop off our stuff get into groups and then get THE TUBE to Covent Gardens. In our groups we had to 'explore' Covent Gardens and make a group project about our visit there. In my group there was me, Erika, Catherine, Rick and Spanish Dave; we went first to the old veggie market to have a spot of lunch. Me and Erika decided to have a pie from an appropriately named shop called...
Excellently named :D
Meanwhile Catherine, Rick and Spanish Dave decided to have a bit of paella from some HUGE paella pan!
It was literally huge.
After our 'lunch-on-the-go' we went to wander around the Jubilee Market Hall. Afterwards when we went outside there was a street performer and we stayed to watched for a while. In one part of his act he had Erika, Rick and Spanish Dave along with a few other people lie on a strip of carpet whilst he walked over them on his hands. It was rather impressive i have to admit.
After this display we went down near where to theatres were and we visited a sweet shop that I had previously been to.
And whilst we were there I decided that I would buy one HUGE gobstopper... I must admit it was on impulse and probably one of the most pointless purchases I have ever made. But all I am going to say is.. IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT! X'D
Later after meeting up with everybody else from college we walked over to Waterloo where the London Eye was located. When we got there, the area around the Eye was all Christmassy and full or festivities. There was a small Christmas market type thing and it was selling all sorts of stuff. So we had about an hour to wander around the stalls before we regrouped and were told that the teachers were paying for us to go on the merry-go-round. This news resulted in mixed reactions as many of us would rather not be seen on one :'). In the end everyone went on whilst the teachers were taking photos and I must say that I did enjoy the ride. :P After this unexpected and rather hilarious fairground ride we carried on to the London Eye where we queued to get into one of the pods that would take us round. The ride was highly enjoyable even though a few people were afraid of heights :/ I applaud you guys :)
But.. The highlight of the night had to be going to the IMAX to see... Drumroll... HARRY POTTER 7 pt1!! Haha the screen was aboslutely HUUUUGE and the sound was really loud o.O The film was OK in my opinion.. It wasn't really bad nor was it excellent.
After the film we walked to a restaurant called Giraffe where we had our evening meal. The restaurant was pretty cool and the stirring sticks they had were in the shape of a giraffe! Very unique :D
Day 2
The night before we were split into two groups: one group was going to a global warming conference and the other was going to the various musuems dotted around London. I was in the group that was going to the conference. When we arrived we were not expecting the conference to be held in a cinema theatre. It really caught me off guard. Once the conference had began, I and also the others and Dave our supervision realised that this was seriously not what we had expected at all. All that was happening was that people of different specialities in the field of environmental science were giving presentations on various problems with the envirinment. It was, in my opinion, rather boring so after the short break we were given, we did not return to the conference. Instead we wandered over to South Kensington where the Natural History Museum was located.
We wandered for a while before ultimately going over to the rocks and minerals gallery in the earth section. (as you do :3 *rock nerd alert*) After we went back to hotel, grabbed our bags and left for Euston Station so we could migrate our way northwards again.
Overall I thought the trip was very enjoyable and a good weekend out :) (Y)
Til the next time :)
